What is your favorite service you offer?

My favorite service is anything that involves extensive razor work. Whether it’s one of our shaves for the head or face. The satisfaction I see on my clients’ faces when they rub their smooth skin afterward is priceless. Most of them say, “That’s the smoothest my face has ever been.”  The best compliment you can give a barber is when a client falls asleep in your chair during a shave . That’s when I know they truly trust me.

What made you choose barbering?

I was 28 years old and had worked a ton of different jobs before this, most of which I hated. They taught me what I didn’t want to do for the rest of my life. Before barbering, I spent eight years in the hotel industry, where I learned a lot about customer service and connecting with people. I loved helping others, but eventually, I grew tired of the monotonous tasks that came with hotel management.

I knew I wanted to keep working with people, so I started looking into trade schools. Out of all my options, barbering seemed like the most customer-focused career, since we get to talk and connect with people all day long. It just felt right. Funny thing is, I had never cut hair before barber school.

People often ask how I found a career I truly love, and my answer is simple: I took a chance. I chose a trade on luck and faith, and it all worked out. Sometimes the career finds you and I’m one of those lucky people.

How do you like to spend your time outside of the shop?

I love trying new food. My wife and I make it a point to visit a new restaurant every week (we both hate cooking, especially after a long day at work). With Lexington’s constant rotation of new spots, we never run out of options. My saying is: “You can’t say you don’t like it unless you try it.”

What are two fun facts about yourself?

I’ve completed over 200 jigsaw puzzles, most with 750 pieces, and around 50 paint-by-number artworks. Some of those took months to finish!

I’m the best fur dad you’ll ever meet. I’d do anything for my little furballs. Coming home to them greeting me at the door is the best feeling in the world.

How would you describe a client's experience in your chair?

Informative: I like to educate my clients on how to care for and style their hair so they can recreate the look at home. I also recommend the right products to help them achieve the hairstyle they want.

Attentive: I pay close attention to every detail of the haircut. Double-checking my work, making sure there’s no hair left around the ears, and trimming any stray eyebrow hairs that need attention.

Mood-Altering: I strive to make every service all about you. I’m always cracking jokes and keeping conversations light-hearted. I stay positive, and if you’re not in the best mood when you sit down, hopefully, you’ll leave my chair feeling a little better.

Brian’s a wizard! I had a deluxe beard trim with him, my first experience with Rooster’s Nest. I’ve found my barber! I honestly didn’t know my beard could look so good! I’ve been vainly checking out my beard in mirrors or glass windows when I walk by ever since. The pampering was pretty nice too—as were the amazing in-house products that were a part of this enjoyable indulgence! SOLID FIVE-STAR EXPERIENCE!

Awesome shop! Very convenient location and some of the friendliest service around. Brian was my barber and I will definitely be back to see him - he got my cut just right and is a fun guy to chat with during your appointment. Can’t recommend this shop enough.

Brian is wonderful. He’s very professional, timely and skilled. Easily the best haircut my husband’s ever had. He’s great with my sons as well. Very patient. We love Brian and are always thrilled with his talents.
